This Too Shall Pass
A reminder that every moment—good or bad—is temporary.
In life, there’s one truth that always holds up — nothing is permanent. It’s a simple idea, but one that can bring both comfort and discomfort depending on where you are in your journey.
We often cling to things — people, jobs, emotions, even pain — as if they’ll last forever. But the reality is, everything is temporary. Every high, every low, every season of your life. And once you really absorb that, it changes everything.
The Good Doesn't Last — And That’s Okay
When things are going well, we naturally want to freeze time. We want to hang on to happiness, love, success, and stability. But the beauty of those moments is in their fragility. They’re precious because they’re fleeting.
Trying to hold on too tightly to good times can actually make us anxious. It creates pressure to keep everything perfect. But when you accept that good seasons will come and go, you start to truly enjoy them. You become more present, more grateful, and less afraid of change.
The Bad Doesn’t Last Either
Here’s the flip side: the hard times don’t last either. No matter how heavy things feel right now, they won’t feel that way forever. Emotions pass. Circumstances shift. People heal. Doors close — and others open.
When you're in the middle of a rough season, it's easy to feel like it's never going to end. But remind yourself: this is temporary. Nothing is set in stone. You're evolving. Your situation is evolving. It’s all moving, whether you can see it or not.
Change Is Constant — and That’s a Gift
Life isn’t meant to be static. That’s what makes it beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Change is what allows us to grow, learn, and become who we’re meant to be. It’s what turns endings into new beginnings.
Accepting impermanence doesn’t mean giving up. It means letting go of the illusion that we can control everything. It means flowing with life rather than fighting against it. And that mindset makes you more resilient — because you stop fearing the fall, knowing you’ll rise again.
How to Embrace the Temporary
Here are a few ways to live with the truth that nothing is permanent:
Practice mindfulness. Stay present. Enjoy the now without obsessing over the future or past.
Let go with grace. When something ends — a relationship, a job, a phase — honor it, then release it.
Be open to new beginnings. Endings are uncomfortable, but they make room for new things to enter.
Don’t fear change — expect it. Life is movement. Expecting change helps you stay grounded when it comes.
Final Thoughts
Nothing in this world stays the same forever — and that’s exactly why it’s worth living. The highs are sweeter because we know they won’t last. The lows are bearable because we know they’ll pass.
So, whether you’re on top of the world or deep in a valley, remember this: it’s all temporary. The good, the bad, the in-between — none of it is permanent. And that’s what makes it all so meaningful.
